The Basement is a location in the game IMSCARED. It debuted in the original 2012 game, so it also appears in the 2016 Steam Release. It acts as the main hub for accessing most areas of the game. It follows Begin, and precedes too many areas to count. It is the first area where the player sees White Face.

Appearance[]

The Basement is a basement consisting of a single long hallway with multiple rooms connected to it. The walls are light grey with some kind of dark ooze coming from the ceiling. The floor and ceiling is dark grey. Even the doors are grey colored, due to them being metal. There are a total of 8 connected rooms, with some requiring certain keys to enter.

Walkthrough[]

After you climb down the ladder, go to the second door to the right. Go to the back of the bookshelf and get the Rusty Key. With the Rusty Key, you can unlock the first door to the left of the hallway (if you were looking at the hallway from the ladder). Follow the fleshy tunnel, and grab the Pulsating Heart. White Face will ambush you from behind and cause a fake BSoD to appear on your screen. Opening the game again will display a text popup, asking you for a name. Type in "White Face", and you will be teleported to the Car Park. After you're done with the Car Park and the Street, you will be back in the basement. Go back to the ladder and climb up. Now that you have the heart, you are able to open the exit door.

The next section is for the 2016 Steam Release only!

After you're done with the Parlor and Labyrinth, go to the final room on the right of the hallway, and open one of the cabinets to get the Station Key. With this key, open the second door to the right of the hallway, and enter the elevator that leads to the Station.

Rooms[]

As mentioned above, the basement is a singular hallway with many rooms connected to it that vary in sizes. Some of the rooms need certain keys for the player to be able to access them.

Right[]

  1. The first door to the right leads to the Pipes. You will need the Oxidized Key to get through the door.
  2. The second door leads you to the room with the Rusty Key, the "Peek-a-boo" hole, as well as two bookshelves and a chair.
  3. The third door leads to the Labyrinth. The only way to unlock the door is to go through the Parlor first, and open the door from the back.
  4. The final door to the right leads to a room with multiple white beds, cabinets, and bookshelves.

Left[]

  1. The first door to the left leads into the flesh tunnel that contains the Pulsating Heart. You will need the Rusty Key in order to access the room.
  2. The second door leads you to the elevator that takes you to the Station. You will need the Station key to access the area.
  3. The third door leads you into the cell room. If this is the first time entering the room, White Face will appear behind the bars, and slowly move backwards into the fog.
  4. The final door to the left leads to a room with a seemingly bottomless pit. The next door leads to the Street. If you haven't beaten the Car Park yet, you will be unable to access the Street.

Trivia[]

  • If you look through the hole in the Rusty Key room, you will see White Face's Room in it and you will get the "Peek-A-Boo" achievement. If you look through the same hole after completing the Labyrinth, you will see HER's grave in the hole and get the "Peek-A-TWO" achievement.
    • Due to a glitch, looking in that hole, moving a bit away from the hole and then back to it will give you both of the achievements within seconds.
  • If you restart the game in the Pipes, you will be sent back to Begin. No worries however, as the game will kindly leave the Oxodized Key in the middle of the hallway, which is used to open the door that leads to the Pipes.
  • Once you reach the ending, the fourth room to the right of the hallway will have a new area to explore. This is a replica of the Grave level, with an added chair and noose next to the "HER" grave.
  • Internally, the ladder that leads to the basement is sometimes referred to as "stairs" in the game files. This could be evidence that stairs were originally meant to take the player to the basement, instead of a ladder.
  • The basement uses the track "Hallway".
