Text Popups

Text pop-ups are a mechanic in the game IMSCARED. They first appeared in the original 2012 version but were vastly expanded upon in the 2016 version.

In the 2012 and 2022 version, they are within the game on a black background, with white text. In the 2016 version, they appear as system messages, and are the only visible part of the game until a correct name is typed.

"Hello! Do you know my name?"

"White Face"

You are taken to the Car Park, continuing Chapter 1. This is the only chapter in the 2012 version, and therefore the only name.

"HER"

Upon typing "HER" and hitting "OK", you are taken to the Parlor, starting Chapter 2. If you type this after you completed Chapter 2, you are thrown right into the ending of the chapter.

"Ivan Zanotti"

Upon typing "Ivan Zanotti" and hitting "OK", you are taken to the Market, starting Chapter 3.

"Take me to the door"

You are taken to the Pipes lobby, continuing Chapter 3.

"Loneliness"

Another text box will open up saying "No, you don't want to".

"Yes"

Another text box appears, saying "You don't know it yet".

Anything else

Upon typing anything other than one of the names listed here, text will appear saying

If you type one of the names in Italian, the message will say to use English instead.

2022 2016 2012 2022 version: What's my name? 2016 version: That's not my name. Maybe you misspelled it? Don't forget I'm case sensitive 2012 version: I made something for You

and the game will then close.

Trivia

• Typing HER, Ivan Zanotti or Take me to the door too early displays a message and closes the game instead of skipping to that point.
